Top Fashion Capitals of the World

There’s no argueing that every part of the world has its own style, and each region has a certain influence on fashion as a whole, but there are certain cities that simply stand out and scream fashion. Here’s a look at some of the most well known, as well as the up and coming fashion capitals of the world. Some of the most obvious selections that come to mind are of course, Paris (birthplace of haute couture, Chanel, Dior…etc), New York (the big city with an even bigger fashion industry operation), London (home to the punk fashion revolution), and Milan (center for all the big name Italian brands needless to say). However, there also some rising stars in this exclusive club of fashion cities that may not get as much publicity as they deserve.

  • São Paulo, Brazil has been host for numerous fashion shows and has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years. It is especially successful in its swimwear lines (shocking, right?) and is promoted by its Brazilian bomshell supermodels.

  • Also a fashion driven city, is Tokyo. The streets of Tokyo are a runway in themselves, the city’s natives nearly dedicate their entire lives to fashion.  Tokyo has some the most inovative and colorful fashion in the world.

Though maybe not quite as reputable as New York just yet, Miami is gaining both national and international credit for its booming fashion industry. Miami hosts fashion week regulary, and is home to desingers, models, and celebrities alike and is known for its hot resort and swimwear lines.

Also worth taking notice of, Barcelona is definately on its way to becoming one of the world’s official fashion capitals. Fashion shows and events are virtually never-ending  in this city. And like its architecture, the fashion in Barcelona is very unique and artistic.

And last but not least, one of the world’s most rapidly developing and expensive city in general is Dubai, so it’s no suprise that its fashion scene is going up with it. It is a point of intercepting ethnicities, and its fashion certainly showcases it.

Rihanna’s New Look

Rihanna is well known for her ever-changing style (which may not always be a hit), so it’s not suprising to see her with such bold red hair, which in fact, looks pretty good. Rihanna has been sporting an edgy, more masculine look for quite some time now, so it’s refreshing to see her flaunting her femininity again. The video itself is beautifully whimsical with its red hue and open landscapes, and Rihanna dancing and looking lighter and  happier than her usual self. Not to mention her, as always, fashion forward outfits which really do add the “cherry on top” to this video. Well done Rihanna.

Crazy Shoes

If you’ve noticed that shoes have been getting a bit out of this world, you’re not alone. Though the conceptualism is applaudable, maybe we’re not entirely ready to do more than admire these expressions of art just yet…unless you’re Lady Gaga of course. Nonetheless, these are incredibly creative heels that definately deserve attention.

Fashion Inspired Halloween Ideas

If you’re feeling glamorous, what better to be for Halloween than the most luxurious Queen in history, Cleopatra. You’ll need  flowing fabric styled dress, gorgeous Egyptian eye makeup, and gold, gold, gold! Here are some inspirations to play off of.

Another idea that will allow you to bejewel yourself, is a Gypsy. For this bohemian type look, all you would need is a little black eye makeup, tousled hair, and printed fabrics galore; and jewelry of course.

Some may laugh, but Lady Gaga is undoubtedly going to be spotted on local sidewalks everywhere, people can’t seem to get enough of her outrageous style. By imitating some of her signature looks, anyone can create a Gaga costume.

Now, this look here is open to interpretation, whether you call yourself a vampire, gothic princess, or any other title you can manage to think up; this has Halloween written all over it.

If all else fails, you can always depend on the classic ghost costume to get you through this holiday. Needing nothing more than some pale powder, and a drabby white dress, tied together with some antique jewelry, and you got yourself a ghost!
